SRK talks About sci-fi fantasy

The slew of big budget science fiction films like Krrish series, Ra.One and the upcoming Shirish Kunder directed Joker, mark the birth of the desi superheroes. Actor Sharukh Khan, who starred in one of the most expensive Bollywood film Ra.One, says, “Whoever helps anyone I think is a super hero.
Of course when it’s a movie, it’s larger than life, you can be in tights and help everyone without having a personal interest.”

The 46-year-old admits that the Indian response to this genre has been lukewarm, mainly, because of the audience is slow to digest the  over-the-top fantasies. He says, “So, this fantasia, so to say, or this leap of faith where the super hero is going to save you against the krypton, flying down and saving thousands of people is still too fantastic for us. Our fantasies are still limited to buying a good house, having a good car and having a regular job.”

He adds, “You know our villain still has to laugh in the same way to tell you that he’s a bad guy. So we are somehow not being able to marry this fantastic form that exists which should actually give you freedom of flight of fantasy completely. We’re still trying to- Let’s make it Ra.One because Ra.One is the bad guy.”

Watch Khan talk desi science-fiction movies and other tidbits with Hindustan Times entertainment critic Anupama Chopra to know more about the star.

Shah Rukh Khan gaga over ‘Dark Knight’ Batman

Mumbai: As Christian Bale’s ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ readies to hit the Indian big screen tomorrow, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan couldn’t stop raving about his favourite superhero - Batman. Bale returns as the cape crusader in this conclusive trilogy of master craftsman Christopher Nolan.

So awestruck is SRK with Batman that during a chat show, the actor said, “If it doesn’t sound strange, I would marry him if I got a chance! I love Batman. Batman is so cool because, see, it’s a boy fantasy. He’s a playboy in the day, he’s got really cool cars, he’s handsome, lots of money, he’s got a mansion, he’s got girls, really cool suits, he’s got underground caves with machines that you don’t understand and a wonderful valet who looks even more sophisticated than him at times.”

SRK further adds, “Batman’s got a sidekick who is too colourful for my liking but really pretty girls and even the bad girls like Catwoman… they like him.... So he’s got a signal — zoop! His name comes down and says, ‘I have to go’ and he’s got a utility belt. He’s really cool and he’s human.

“There’s nothing in this world that compares to Batman. I have a lot of things I have to achieve if I want to be Batman and the playboy image. Yes, I think to me there is nothing greater than Batman, honestly. I would do this interview wearing a Batman costume”, said SRK.

SRK’s presence gets Sallu dropped from guest list

For the premiere of The Dark Knight Rises, organisers invited one Khan and not the other, in an attempt to avoid ugly confrontations

Shah Rukh Khan is the special guest for the premiere of Christopher Nolan's latest offing, The Dark Knight Rises, which releases this week. Like most of us, SRK too is as excited to watch the film. In fact on a TV show earlier this week, the actor mentioned he would've loved to marry actor Christian Bale who plays Batman in the film, provided he had a better voice.

And thus, when invited for the star-studded event to be held at a Juhu multiplex on Thursday, Khan couldn't let go of the opportunity. Interestingly, if sources are to be believed, one of the main reasons SRK decided to attend the show and let go of his usual comfortable home screening at Mannat, is Salman Khan's absence from the guest list.

An insider told us, "SRK, Ranbir Kapoor, Imran Khan are amongst the few who have confirmed their attendance for the premiere. And Salman was never invited for this one. The organisers deliberately kept Salman away from it as they would not like to put SRK in an awkward spot."

Another source close to the actors said, "Salman is a big star so there are chances that he may have been invited for the premiere. However, he is very particular about not attending events that may make him uncomfortable. So, he perhaps declined it. Also, he loves to watch films at private screenings with his friends and family."

SRK and Farah Khan show some love to the cameras! ‎

How did Shahrukh Khan, Boman Irani & Farah Khan bring the house down at ‘Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi’ music preview?
This was followed by the music preview of a song, ‘Ramba mein samba’, sung by Usha Uthup, where the onscreen lovebirds were seen impersonating DDLJ, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Hum Aapke Hain Kaun? It was an amazingly funny video, but we must tell you that of all the three avatars that she had donned, Farah looked best as Kajol in DDLJ.

The madness continued, as producer Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Bela Sehgal Bhansali became targets of the mad bunch’s jokes. Shahrukh said, “I am happy that Bhansali has finally made a fun and frothy film. Last time I had told him to make one, he came up with Black. Some digs were taken at Bela as well, and she sportingly took them in her stride. She said that after making Farah act even she could take up acting offers in the future. It was one mad evening and we must say that nobody entertains like SRK does!

The tone for the evening was set when five minutes into the event, VJ Cyrus Broacha brought to notice the brassiere on which Boman Irani and Farah Khan were seen hanging on to, in the latest poster of their forthcoming film, Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi. Cyrus asked Boman, if he was really playing the role of a lingerie salesman in Shirin Farhad Ki Toh…Boman and Farah quipped that here nobody gets the pronunciation of ‘lingerie’ right, so might as well call it a bra. Soon after, Shahrukh Khan was called on to the stage and was introduced as some newbie actor.

Now, Shahrukh, who had overheard the indecent undie-talk backstage, couldn’t resist taking a go at Boman and Farah. He said, “I know who Shirin and Farhad are, but what is ‘toh nikal padi’? Does it have anything to do with the err…whatever you were just talking about? Farah said, “It referred to Boman’s bra.” The laugh riot continued for a while and Cyrus kept making fun of budget constraints, Parsi community, unpaid bills and the old ladies who are a part of the film. Before the spoof poster was about to be revealed, King Khan goofed up and revealed that it was based on his cult hit, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. An embarrassed-looking Farah, pulled up SRK for ruining the surprise, and then the spoof poster was unveiled.

No one can recreate the ‘DDLJ’ magic: Shah Rukh Khan

Actor Shah Rukh Khan said here today that nobody could recreate the magic of his most iconic romantic film, Dilwale Dhulaniya Le Jayenge.
He made the statement at a promotional event of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming home production film Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi, where leading actors Farah Khan and Boman Irani recreated the magic as Simran and Raj of ‘DDLJ’ in a poster.

Shah Rukh had come to unveil the third poster of Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi which portrayed Boman dressed up as SRK and Farah as Simran.
“I have seen spoofs of all movies created by others, but I never thought anyone would think of making a spoof on DDLJ,” Shah Rukh told reporters here, at the music launch of Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi, a romantic comedy directed by Bhansali’s sister Bela Sehgal.
“I think love can happen at any age. It has no age. There is no right time and right place for love. It can happen any time,” Shah Rukh said.
Farah and Shah Rukh, who came together on the same platform after a controversial show down, seemed very comfortable and couldn’t stop praising each other.
When Farah made her third film, Tees Maar Khan without Shah rukh, rumors mills were abuzz that all is not well between the two. It was also in the beginning of this year, when Shah Rukh had a fallout with Farah’s husband Shirish Kunder at a party thrown by Sanjay Dutt.
“Farah is one of the most finest and talented directors we have with us. I thank Farah for giving me some of the nicest moments in her films,” Shah Rukh said.

Awesome Shah Rukh Khan is Bhansali’s “chosen one”!

The dynamic King Khan has always been a big fan of Sanjay Leela Bhansali since his drunken “Devdas” days. Bhansali may not have repeated Shahrukh in any of his later directorial ventures but this “Bollywood friendship” hums a mutual tune together till now. They share fabulous equation together and a smug Shahrukh is the “special chosen one” out of a load of people, who has been honored by Sanjay to unveil the “spoofy DDLJ“ poster and inaugurate the music of his sister’s directorial debut “Shirin Farhad Ki toh Nikal Padi.“ And Shahrukh gladly bows down to the privilege.

Shirin Farhad Ki to Nikal Padi
The upcoming bollywood delight is being directed by the debutant director Bela, who is Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s sister. Bhansali till today maintains a sturdy camaraderie with the “King Khan” and has roped him in for the ”ribbon cutting ceremony“ of his sister’s upcoming flick,”Shirin Farhad ki toh nikal padi”. Bela, Sanjay’s sister makes her debut as a director and has signed Boman Irani and Farah Khan on the dotted line.
The Bhansali honor ceremony
The hunt had been on for a quite a while for “the right one“ to make an impactful unveiling of the film’s poster and music. Bhansali favorite, charismatic Shahrukh Khan, won over from the rest and took the “honorable task” under his bonnet.
A source from Sanjay’s camp stated “Sanjay and SRK have been close friends for several years and having worked together so closely. Sanjay wanted SRK to be present for the poster launch. Also, SRK is very particular about being there for his friends so when Sanjay asked him he immediately agreed to attend the function, without thinking twice.Though there were some prior commitments; he canceled all his appointments for the day.”
The Farah Khan angle
Old friendship between Shahrukh and Farah Khan has been renewed and both of them sit with their heads joined from now on. He couldn’t say no to his “good friend” Farah’s acting debut inaugural ceremony. The unveiled posture has a reflection of Shahrukh –Kajol’s superhit “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge."
An excited Farah was heard exclaiming “I was excited when I heard about the concept of the teaser posters that was about love stories. DDLJ stands out as one of his iconic love stories. This is the best launch a newcomer could have ever got.”
Something good always comes out in the end! Shahrukh is no longer at loggerheads with Farah Khan. Farah promises to entertain in the Bhansali produced laugh riot. And last but not the least, cheers to the Bhansali and the Khan compatibility!

SRK Bhansali Friends Again

Bhansali plans to compensate for his absence at the earlier do by attending the music launch of Shirin Farhad..., to be held today. What's more, it is learnt Shah Rukh will be chief guest at the event. So what gives readers may recall the much publicised fallout between Bhansali and Shah Rukh, when Saawariya and Om Shanti Om, respectively, had released on the same day. At the time, there had been reports of Shah Rukh taking potshots at Bhansali with the latter retaliating by questioning the superstar's dignity.

In recent times though, Shah Rukh and Bhansali have made efforts to reconcile their differences. For instance, when Shah Rukh was shooting at Mehboob Studios and he came to know Bhansali was there too shooting for his film Guzaarish, the actor made it a point to pay him a visit and clear the air. After the release of Guzaarish, Shah Rukh had even called Bhansali to compliment him.
A source close to the project told us, "With the earlier poster launch, where both Farah and Boman were dressed in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai costumes, Bhansali's absence was relevant. But this time round, Bhansali is making an exception for Shah Rukh and breaking his trend of appearing only once for his films."
Interestingly, the music launch of Bela's Shirin Farhad Ki Nikal Padi will see all three: Farah, Shah Rukh and Bhansali, share the same podium, making way for ending past differences.

SRK Visit Aashirwad to mourn Rajesh Khanna

"To live with intention & walk to the edge. Play with abandon, choose with no regret. Smile & made us do the same.Sir,u defined our era.RIP," Khan tweeted on Wednesday.

"Mom & me use to sit & watch Mr.Khanna's films back to back.Whenever life felt tough u made us feel how love could change it all. will miss u," Khan said.

Khanna passed away in his Mumbai residence on Wednesday after prolonged illness. According to reports, he was battling cancer. He was 69.

According to reports, the superstar's last rites will be performed at 11 am on Thursday.

Khanna gave India several memorable films that included 'Kati Patang', 'Amar Prem', 'Shehzada', 'Apna Desh', 'Mere Jeevan Saathi', 'Aap Ki Kasam', 'Ajnabee', 'Namak Haraam', 'Maha Chor', 'Karm', 'Phir Wohi Raat', 'Aanchal', 'Kudrat', 'Ashanti', 'Agar Tum Na Hote', 'Awaaz, Hum Dono' , 'Anand' and 'Alag Alag'.

Pertinently, he had 15 consecutive solo superhits between 1969 to 1971, which is still an unbroken record in Indian film history.

ow SRK strengthened bond with Farah

They’ve gone from being buddies to being estranged and of late, back to being buddies. Now, Shah Rukh and Farah Khan are set to further strengthen their professional bond. It seems SRK proposed that Farah co-produce the film, Happy New Year, with him. And Farah readily obliged.

Until now,Shah Rukh has co-produced films only with close friends Karan Johar, Aditya Chopra and Farhan Akhtar. But close on the heels of their much-publicised patch up, Farah’s company will be co-producing the film that, until now, she was just to direct.

As a result, Happy New Year will now be produced by Red Chillies (owned by SRK) in association with Farah and her husband Shirish Kunder’s Three’s Company.

Farah says, “It was SRK’s suggestion. While we were planning the film, he said that ‘it’s high time we become partners’. No doubt, I’m happy about. But it’s SRK who deserves the credit for the partnership.”

The first leg of the shoot will start towards the end of December. “At least, I will start, maybe without Shah Rukh. And then, January onwards, we will be on in full steam.”

It’s believed that Farah and Shah Rukh’s friendship soured when she announced her third film (after Main Hoon Na and Om Shanti Om starring Shah Rukh) Tees Maar Khan (2010) with Akshay Kumar. Later, the infamous brawl between SRK and Shirish worsened things. It was only recently that they hugged and made up at SRK’s home, Mannat.

Did Shahrukh Khan relive his infamous fight with Salman Khan?

How can one forget Bollywood's infamous fight that took place four years back? Bollywood superstars Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan's thick friendship came to an abrupt end with an ugly spat at Katrina Kaif's birthday bash on July 16, 2008. After the completion of four years of their fight, on July 16, 2012, Shahrukh Khan was spotted at the same nightclub in Bandra.
If reports are to be believed, Shahrukh was spotted having a quiet dinner with Anushka Sharma on Monday night at the same Bandra nightspot, where he had a brawl with Salman at Katrina Kaif's birthday party. If reports are to be further believed, SRK chose the same seat where he lost his then best friend Salman Khan four years back.
Did SRK relive his infamous fight with Salman?
SRK's business manager also accompanied them. We wonder why did Khan choose that particular nightspot and that too on the same day (Katrina's birthday) after four long years. Was it just a coincidence or did Shahrukh recall the infamous brawl?
