Why CCI Rejected The Devgns plea against YRF

The Competition commission of India has rejected Ajay Devgn Film's(ADF)  complaint against Yashraj Films alleging unfair business practice.

ADF had alleged that cinema owners forced to sign up to screen Jab Tak Hai Jaan along with Ek Tha Tiger by Yashraj films leaving not many screens for their film Son of Sardar which is also slated for Diwali release. Yashraj Films refused to comment on the ruling.

Here Is The Reason Why CCI Rejected Case Against YRF-:

1). There Are Total 9000-10,000 Screen Space Is Available India,From Which Bollywood(Hindi) Movies Can Be Released In 5,000-6,000 Screens.

2) YRF Booked Only 2600 Screens For "Jab Tak Hai Jaan" So There Are Minimum 2000 Screen Space Available For "Son Of Sardar".So There Is No Issue For Lodging Complain Against YRF.

3)YRF Booked Their Screens On "First Come First Book" Basis. As YRF Decided To Release "Jab Tak Hai Jaan" 4 Months Before & Talked To Various multiplexes and single screen owners . Where As ADF Decided To Release Their Movie Few Day Before.

Noting that it cannot issue restraint orders with respect to agreements which are of minor importance, the Commission said that while issuing such orders, it has to "keep in mind the overall exhibition market and not a particular period of the market".

Ajay Devgn Films` complaint was against six parties -- Yash Raj Films, Yash Raj PP Associates, Yash Raj Puri & Co, Yash Raj Pal Film Distributors (Bangalore), Yash Raj Vandana Film Distributors and Yash Raj Kushgara Arts.

However ADF Can Go To High Court For This Issue.

SRK on ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’: Hope it helps popularise armed forces

Mumbai: Superstar Shah Rukh Khan is happy that he is playing an army officer in `Jab Tak Hai Jaan`, and hopes it can help popularise the forces.

"I am glad that I am playing an army officer. I feel good that by portraying characters from armed forces in our films, hopefully, we can popularise the profession because our army, navy and air force is beyond the profession, it`s a dedication to your nation, this is what I feel," the 47-year-old said here Friday during a press conference held on his birthday.

Shah Rukh says he would be glad if even one young boy is inspired to join the armed forces after watching the film.

"When I was shooting in Kashmir, many officers used to meet and ask `You are doing na`, so, now may be the boys (are getting inspired). I don`t know if they will (get inspired). But if I am able to do that through this film or through `Fauji` or if one person decides to do that, will be really nice because it is the most honourable and noble profession to be in the armed forces," Shah Rukh said.

Shah Rukh had earlier also played an army officer in `Veer Zaara`.

`Jab Tak Hai Jaan` also stars Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma and hits theatres this Diwali, Nov 13.

Ajay Devgn not my enemy: SRK

On Shahrukh's Khan 47th birthday, the badshah of Bollywood had a huge cake cutting ceremony with the media that was present outside his home Mannat, in Mumbai.

Shahrukh Khan's upcoming release Jab Tak Hain Jaan (directed by the late Yash Chopra) is embroiled in controversy as the film is releasing with Ajay Devgn's Son of Sardaar.
Devgn claims that YRF has manipulated its way by having JTHJ's release in more theaters than SOS, thus getting their way with exhibitors and distributors.

Talking about this, Shahrukh says, "I am no one to speak about the release of Son of Sardaar and Jab Tak Hain Jaan together. It's the producer's lookout. Ajay mera dushman nahi hain. Screen distribution mera call nahi hain".

While the common factor between the two remains Kajol, let's hope the two banners make peace.

Big B and SRK to inaugurate Kolkata Film Festival

Bollywood stars Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan will jointly inaugurate the 18th edition of the Kolkata International Film Festival on November 10, which will pay tribute to the completion of 100 years of Indian cinema.

The eight-day festival will bring together the two superstars on the dais along with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at a gala event at the Netaji Indoor Stadium.

SRK is also the brand ambassador of the state.

Altogether 189 films from 60 countries will be screened at twelve venues including state-run Nandan, Sisir Mancha, Rabindra Sadan and at cinema halls like Star, Paradise, Navina and Mitra, festival organisers said today.
A small tent-like structure would be erected at Nandan to create the ambience of the bioscope of yesteryears.

Rare films like 'Raja Harischandra', regarded as India's first full-length feature film (1913) and 'Kaliya Mardan' (1919) made by Dadasaheb Phalke, the 'Father of Indian Cinema', will be screened.

Among other rare films to be screened would be Jyotiprasad Agarwala's 1933 film 'Joymati', Debaki Kumar Bose's 'Chandidas', Madhu Bose's 'Alibaba' and P C Barua's 'Mukti'. MORE

SRK plans a simple birthday, says big parties are embarrassing

Q.Any birthday memory that is special to you?
I don’t even remember what I did last year. I think I was in the middle of promoting Ra.One then. And the year before that, I was shooting for Don in Austria, doing the scene where I take my mask off. Suddenly, there were over 1000 people from Austria, Germany, Russia with big placards saying Happy Birthday. It was quite touching as we thought people were standing around just to watch the shooting. They had lots of cakes and banners.

Q.What has been the best gift you have received on your birthday?

I have got some really nice gifts and all gifts from my family are special. I love it when I get books from my friends. One friend gave me a fantastic laptop, another a makeup box for work, which my make-up guy carries now. It looks cool. I like gifts —whatever they are.
Do you cut cakes?
I cut all the cakes brought by the media but I am too old to be cutting cakes. Anyway, I don’t like eating desserts at all.

Who is the first one to wish you?
My daughter usually is the first as she’s very particular and proper. She gets a card and everything.

Why is SRK the king of romance?

1. A lot can happen over a train journey. And mind you! You don’t need to pull the chain to halt the train, just extend your hand to hold on to your loved one.

2. No matter in which part of the world you live in, if you fall in love you need to escape to Switzerland in your dreams and dance in the snow capped mountains with your beloved.

3. If your heart skips a beat be prepared to hear a dozen playing violins around celebrating the excitement with you.

Why is SRK the king of romance?
SRK  In DDLJ, RNBDJ, Veer Zara  (Left to Right)

"I am very sad he is not with us anymore," Shah Rukh said. "It has been a huge jolt, extremely shocking. But I can't feel his loss. There is a strange feeling that he has not gone. He is still here. I have worked with him for 20 years and I am sure we will continue to watch his films for another 500 years."
