Why did SRK break his ‘no kissing’ clause for JTHJ?

Shah Rukh Khan had made a rule for himself - never kiss on screen, but he has made an exception for Yash Chopra`s ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ (JTHJ). The superstar says he was "forced" to kiss this time, and says it was only a demand of the script.

"I had a couple of rules actually - that I won`t ride a horse and I won`t kiss. Both are cumbersome. I don`t know how to do both on screen," Shah Rukh said at a media summit here Friday.

Ever since the release of Yash Chopra`s directorial JTHJ Tuesday, social networking platforms have been abuzz about the kiss scene between Shah Rukh and Katrina Kaif. So, moderator Vir Sanghvi, on behalf of Twitterati, asked SRK: How come he kissed this time!

"I will be very honest. Adi (Aditya Chopra), Yash ji and Katrina, and I say this with all humility and thankfulness to them, that they knew I was awkward, I had issues and I am a very easy actor to work with. They are like my family and they said, `You don`t have to do this` and then they got together and they forced me and then even paid me for it."
Why did SRK break his ‘no kissing’ clause for JTHJ?
"So... when heroines say that `I wore a bikini because the story demanded me to`, I did it (the kiss) because the story demanded it. Believe me or don`t believe it," said the 47-year-old actor, who has been in showbiz for over two decades.

Shah Rukh feels doing something as intimate as a kiss on screen, is mechanical.

"It is very mechanical with 100 people telling you what to do. It`s very odd. I don`t even do photoshoots with heroines if it is not for my film and that is also rude, but I don`t want to waste anyone`s time. I find it very awkward taking my shirt off and posing. I can do it in character for film," he said.

But JTHJ was "extremely special because of Yash ji".

"He spoke to everyone and he said `Shah Rukh, this is a requirement`," recollected Shah Rukh.

The actor was extremely close to the late filmmaker, who breathed his last Oct 21 following dengue and subsequent multi-organ failure.

Bal Thackeray’s death: Shah Rukh Khan breaks silence

Several hours after the Shiv Sena supremo Balasaheb Thackeray passed away on Saturday, superstar Shah Rukh Khan finally broke his silence regarding the relationship that the two shared over the past couple of years.

The actor and Thackeray had had a famous fallout after the latter’s Shiv Sena created troubles for SRK’s ‘My Name Is Khan’ in 2010. The party threatened to stop the release of the film following Shah Rukh’s remarks favouring the inclusion of Pakistani cricketers in the Indian Premier League (IPL). In another incident, Balasaheb had criticised SRK for his “misdemeanour” at the Wankhede Stadium.

After the veteran politician passed away yesterday, Shah Rukh took to Twitter to mouth his feelings, “We avoid building bridges out of personal issues & then it gets too late.i should hav gone & met BalaSahib. Will miss our chats R.I.P. sir...”

The actor had earlier expressed his concern over Thackeray’s bad health, “My prayers & wishes for Bala sahibji...may he recover soon & healthy from this battle.”

Balasaheb Thackeray passed away at 3.30 Saturday afternoon. He was 86.

Politics not SRK’s cup of tea

Armed with his trademark dimpled smile and looking dapper in a black tuxedo, Shah Rukh Khan looked all set to face the media along with his current leading lady, Katrina Kaif.
SRK addressed a wide array of issues, from leadership qualities, his association with sports to his disinterest in taking an active role in politics. Katrina remained her reserved self.
Talking about the qualities of a leader at the HT Leadership Summit, he said “I have met many management honchos and political leaders and most of them are the simplest and coolest people. You can’t be a leader by force, you have to deserve it. A good leader takes people along with him. I don’t think I am a leader in any which way. People around me have bolstered me to assume some significant role.”
On being asked whether he would like to associate himself with a political cause or play an active role in politics, SRK said, “I can never be a part of politics. I don’t think that is a part of my job profile and I am very apolitical. This does not mean I don’t want to vote or see improvement in infrastructure, education and economy. I just feel for the nation like any common citizen. My job is to entertain. I like doing that.”
Another thing that does not figure in his list is taking up Hollywood offers. He smiles and says, “I have never really received the best of offers. Besides, I can’t do very good action, dance or look cool. I am not fit for Hollywood.”
Being a sports enthusiast, he is keen to catch up the ongoing Test series between India and England, especially the one that will be held in Kolkata in December.
Although SRK has played a diverse range of characters, somehow he hasn’t really played a Delhiite till date. Being a Delhiite, wouldn’t he like to play one? “I would love to play one. Especially a Haryanvi. I like the language. I hope I am offered a role soon,” he smiles.
He has often been spotted in the city. What does he like to do when he is around? “I like to offer prayers at my parents’ grave. Usually late at night. And I end up eating and sleeping at my in-law’s place,” he says.
SRK also fielded numerous questions about marketing his films, roles that were closer to his heart and his current film, Jab Tak Hai Jaan.
Known for his brilliant energy, it might be quite intimidating for his co-stars to match steps with him. To this, Katrina revealed, “Well, for the Ishq Shava song (in JTHJ), a complete dance number, I took more than two days to rehearse and get the act correct, while SRK took less than two hours! So yeah, it was scary. But we did manage to do it well at the end, I believe.”
Finally, when Katrina was asked why she chooses to remain quiet while her co-stars do most of the talking, she said, “If you are asking SRK how was it playing Devdas or G.One, how can I respond to that? I can only assume how it might have been. When you ask me a question regarding my career or films, I will definitely answer. Rest, why should I need to open my mouth?” Point well made!

Amitabh Bachchan calls 'JTHJ' SRK's best since 'Swades

Amitabh Bachchan, who returned home later after attending the premiere of late Yash Chopra's "Jab Tak Hai Jaan" (JTHJ), feels it is one of Shah Rukh Khan's finest performances.

Chopra passed away on October 21, just days before the release of his swan song, starring SRK, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma. His family decided to go ahead with a gala premiere to as a tribute to Chopra with the who's who of Bollywood attending.

Ironically, Chopra was last photographed on Bachchan's 70th birthday on October 11.

In an early morning post, the actor wrote, "Just back from YRF and the premier of the film 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan', followed by a party ... And the film... What can one do, or say about it ... Each portion poetry, each artist at his and her best, and for Shah Rukh his best performance after 'Swades'."
Bachchan was impressed with the old world charm of the studio.

"... And the film and stand alone ambience heatre built of such period architecture, reflecting the carving original of the columns, and the entire ambience in the style of some old castle in early Europe. It was magical... Just the way Yash ji would have wanted."

Jab Tak Hai Jaan Got NOC From Pakistan Censor Board

The hugely anticipated Shahrukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma starrer Jab Tak Hain Jaan is all set to release in Pakistan amidst rumours that the film would be banned in the country, as it was believed to have portrayed Pakistan in a negative light.

Filmmaker Yash Chopra's final project would now be released in Pakistan after Yash Raj Films (YRF) assured that the plot of the film would not hurt the sentiments of Pakistanis.

"The film has received one NOC (No Objection Certificate) from the ministry of regulations and services and is now awaiting another from the ministry of commerce. After this it will be all set to arrive in Pakistan," The Express Tribune quoted chairman of IMGC Global Entertainment Amjad Rasheed, as saying.

"I met Aditya Chopra at his father's funeral and he assured me that the film is not against Pakistan or its security agencies and it does not have any negative religious connotations. It has a positive vibe overall and I am glad that one of the most awaited films of the year is finally releasing in Pakistan," Rasheed added

Avtar Panesar, Vice President of International Operations at YRF said: "I can confirm that the film has nothing that may be construed as anti-Pakistan; (it) is a simple love story. We have always respected the law in any of the countries we release our films in and Pakistan is no exception. We will respect the law of Pakistan and the release will take place once the formalities are completed.

Apart from being Yash Chopra's final project, it is also the only Shahrukh Khan film to come out this year and his first film with Katrina Kaif, which makes celebrities and audiences alike excited about its release.

The ad will go on air on Diwali, Nov 13, the same day when JTHJ hits the screens.

Shah Rukh came on board for Lux in 2005, and featured in a commercial with Bollywood beauties Hema Malini, Sridevi, Juhi Chawla and Kareena Kapoor.

This time, the Bollywood Badshah will feature as a `bekaboo` (uncontrollable) with Katrina. In the ad, fragrance of the soap drives Shah Rukh `bekaboo`.

"I`m happy to be associated with Lux yet again! The fragrance of Lux will captivate you just as it has made me `bekaboo`. The fragrance of Lux that stands for love and sensuality brings out the lover in me," Shah Rukh said at the shoot.

The commercial is shot and directed by French director Juan Delcan. It`s Sufi-inspired music score has been composed by acclaimed poet and lyricist Gulzar, and sung by Sonu Nigam.

Katrina`s look in the ad is styled by fashion designer Rocky S.

"When I think of Lux, I think of fun and spontaneity. Lux embodies a type of a woman rather than just soap and of course the fragrance that embodies sensuality," said the actress.

SRK visits Yash Chopra’s college in Jalandhar,

Actor Shah Rukh Khan visited Phagwara and Jalandhar on Wednesday to pay tribute to Yash Chopra, late filmmaker and the director of his next release Jab Tak Hai Jaan.

Chopra, who hails from Jalandhar, also studied at the Doaba College and used to donate Rs 1 lakh to the college every year. He even got made a studio built in the college.

Accompanied by actors Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma, Khan told mediapersons in Phagwara: “It was Yashji’s last wish to start the film’s promotion from Jalandhar. But we are here to promote the film but to pay tribute to him by fulfilling his last wish.”

Asked whether his next movie, which is set for a Diwali release, has a Punjab link, Khan said: “All movies made by Yash Chopra has a Punjabi touch and this movie is no exception to the rule... I love Punjab as it is beautiful but the people here are even more beautiful.”

“It was Yashji who told me that I must do romantic movies to be successful. That was the turning point in my life and I re-invented myself in romantic roles... We still cannot believe that Yashji will not be there at the premier of the film but we will celebrate his death with his family,” said Khan, while adding that he owed his career and success to Chopra and was indebted to his family.

Later, he visited Doaba College in Jalandhar.

Why CCI Rejected The Devgns plea against YRF

The Competition commission of India has rejected Ajay Devgn Film's(ADF)  complaint against Yashraj Films alleging unfair business practice.

ADF had alleged that cinema owners forced to sign up to screen Jab Tak Hai Jaan along with Ek Tha Tiger by Yashraj films leaving not many screens for their film Son of Sardar which is also slated for Diwali release. Yashraj Films refused to comment on the ruling.

Here Is The Reason Why CCI Rejected Case Against YRF-:

1). There Are Total 9000-10,000 Screen Space Is Available India,From Which Bollywood(Hindi) Movies Can Be Released In 5,000-6,000 Screens.

2) YRF Booked Only 2600 Screens For "Jab Tak Hai Jaan" So There Are Minimum 2000 Screen Space Available For "Son Of Sardar".So There Is No Issue For Lodging Complain Against YRF.

3)YRF Booked Their Screens On "First Come First Book" Basis. As YRF Decided To Release "Jab Tak Hai Jaan" 4 Months Before & Talked To Various multiplexes and single screen owners . Where As ADF Decided To Release Their Movie Few Day Before.

Noting that it cannot issue restraint orders with respect to agreements which are of minor importance, the Commission said that while issuing such orders, it has to "keep in mind the overall exhibition market and not a particular period of the market".

Ajay Devgn Films` complaint was against six parties -- Yash Raj Films, Yash Raj PP Associates, Yash Raj Puri & Co, Yash Raj Pal Film Distributors (Bangalore), Yash Raj Vandana Film Distributors and Yash Raj Kushgara Arts.

However ADF Can Go To High Court For This Issue.

SRK on ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’: Hope it helps popularise armed forces

Mumbai: Superstar Shah Rukh Khan is happy that he is playing an army officer in `Jab Tak Hai Jaan`, and hopes it can help popularise the forces.

"I am glad that I am playing an army officer. I feel good that by portraying characters from armed forces in our films, hopefully, we can popularise the profession because our army, navy and air force is beyond the profession, it`s a dedication to your nation, this is what I feel," the 47-year-old said here Friday during a press conference held on his birthday.

Shah Rukh says he would be glad if even one young boy is inspired to join the armed forces after watching the film.
SRK on ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’: Hope it helps popularise armed forces
"When I was shooting in Kashmir, many officers used to meet and ask `You are doing na`, so, now may be the boys (are getting inspired). I don`t know if they will (get inspired). But if I am able to do that through this film or through `Fauji` or if one person decides to do that, will be really nice because it is the most honourable and noble profession to be in the armed forces," Shah Rukh said.

Shah Rukh had earlier also played an army officer in `Veer Zaara`.

`Jab Tak Hai Jaan` also stars Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma and hits theatres this Diwali, Nov 13.

Ajay Devgn not my enemy: SRK

On Shahrukh's Khan 47th birthday, the badshah of Bollywood had a huge cake cutting ceremony with the media that was present outside his home Mannat, in Mumbai.

Shahrukh Khan's upcoming release Jab Tak Hain Jaan (directed by the late Yash Chopra) is embroiled in controversy as the film is releasing with Ajay Devgn's Son of Sardaar.
Devgn claims that YRF has manipulated its way by having JTHJ's release in more theaters than SOS, thus getting their way with exhibitors and distributors.

Talking about this, Shahrukh says, "I am no one to speak about the release of Son of Sardaar and Jab Tak Hain Jaan together. It's the producer's lookout. Ajay mera dushman nahi hain. Screen distribution mera call nahi hain".

While the common factor between the two remains Kajol, let's hope the two banners make peace.

Wishing Shahrukh Khan a Happy Birthday!

Big B and SRK to inaugurate Kolkata Film Festival

Bollywood stars Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan will jointly inaugurate the 18th edition of the Kolkata International Film Festival on November 10, which will pay tribute to the completion of 100 years of Indian cinema.

The eight-day festival will bring together the two superstars on the dais along with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at a gala event at the Netaji Indoor Stadium.

SRK is also the brand ambassador of the state.

Altogether 189 films from 60 countries will be screened at twelve venues including state-run Nandan, Sisir Mancha, Rabindra Sadan and at cinema halls like Star, Paradise, Navina and Mitra, festival organisers said today.
A small tent-like structure would be erected at Nandan to create the ambience of the bioscope of yesteryears.

Among other rare films to be screened would be Jyotiprasad Agarwala's 1933 film 'Joymati', Debaki Kumar Bose's 'Chandidas', Madhu Bose's 'Alibaba' and P C Barua's 'Mukti'. MORE

SRK plans a simple birthday, says big parties are embarrassing

Q.Any birthday memory that is special to you?
I don’t even remember what I did last year. I think I was in the middle of promoting Ra.One then. And the year before that, I was shooting for Don in Austria, doing the scene where I take my mask off. Suddenly, there were over 1000 people from Austria, Germany, Russia with big placards saying Happy Birthday. It was quite touching as we thought people were standing around just to watch the shooting. They had lots of cakes and banners.

Shah Rukh Khan with wife Gauri and kids
Q.What has been the best gift you have received on your birthday?

I have got some really nice gifts and all gifts from my family are special. I love it when I get books from my friends. One friend gave me a fantastic laptop, another a makeup box for work, which my make-up guy carries now. It looks cool. I like gifts —whatever they are.
Do you cut cakes?
I cut all the cakes brought by the media but I am too old to be cutting cakes. Anyway, I don’t like eating desserts at all.

Who is the first one to wish you?
My daughter usually is the first as she’s very particular and proper. She gets a card and everything.

Why is SRK the king of romance?

1. A lot can happen over a train journey. And mind you! You don’t need to pull the chain to halt the train, just extend your hand to hold on to your loved one.

2. No matter in which part of the world you live in, if you fall in love you need to escape to Switzerland in your dreams and dance in the snow capped mountains with your beloved.

3. If your heart skips a beat be prepared to hear a dozen playing violins around celebrating the excitement with you.

Why is SRK the king of romance?
SRK  In DDLJ, RNBDJ, Veer Zara  (Left to Right)
4. You’ll know when you have met the right person in your life the moment you experience that kuch kuch hota hai feeling.

5. Looks don’t matter, even if you have a toothpaste moustache, love will strike, albeit haule haule!

6. Never be afraid to fall in love. Never be afraid to express it either. You just need to write down your feelings on leaves and let them reach the beloved!

7. Because love is friendship, friendship is love. For love to exist there should be friendship first.

8. If you want something from the bottom of your heart, the whole universe will conspire to get it for you. So if you don’t win your beloved in this lifetime, you might be born again and even with a six-pack abs…

9. Love has no boundaries. Love has no age to reunite. You will travel from Punjab to Pakistan to turn two names into one…Veer Zaara.

10. He is Khan, but he’s not a terrorist, rather a true charmer.
